Giving
Happy Monday!
'Tis the season for giving!
How is your giving going? There are people who feel they could not give enough. There are also those who feel they are giving too much.
How do we find a balance?
It depends.
Giving too much to the wrong people can be tiresome, draining and will leave you feeling depleted. Yet, these people can still leave you feeling you have not given enough.
Not giving enough to the right people because you've been burned before may cause these people to either act in the same calculated manner or may turn them away all together.
See the difference?
First, it depends... on who you give it to.
It does not stop there though. It also depends on the giver - you.
Why do you give? Are you giving what you do not have because you want to please? Are you expecting anything in return? Is your act of giving nourishing or demanding?
Yes, its a two-way street. I'd say the divide is defined by INTENTION.
What would be ideal?
1. That we give with the intention to love, share, nourish (giving a lesson is part of this, people who know me knows what I am talking about) and growing (you grow as a person when you give too).
2. That we receive with the intention of learning generosity while we receive, preparing us to pay it forward.
3. That generosity create a giving relationship between the giver and receiver where no one is depleted, each one wanting to outdo the other in generosity.
God is generous to us everyday. We learn from Him. This Christmas, let us reflect on how we give, who we give to, what kind of people are we becoming and making by our acts of giving?
It is not what or how much you give... it depends 🙂
