Christmas 2020
Happy Monday!
Are you feeling Christmas yet?
Every year I yearn for that childhood feeling of Christmas this time of year.
All the traditions, eating, merry-making, decors, songs and stories of childhood Christmas sort of created for us that template of how Christmasses should "feel" like. Not very different with how we always want to feel special on our birthdays.
So you seek that template and you find yourself in 2020. What happens?
Yes, Christmas celebration as we know it changed. It will feel different. Maybe, it is a good thing.
This year, instead of looking for the "feeling" of Christmas, we can concentrate on being grateful we actually found ourselves alive on Christmas eve.
Instead of being flooded with gifts, appreciate the providence that has allowed you to keep afloat despite having less income or fewer opportunities.
Instead of that new place you'd be discovering, stay with yourself and explore who you've become this year.
Instead of reuniting with friends, reunite with Christ, Mary and Joseph during the first Christmas. Remember the wait, remember the struggle, the joy of fulfilling the Will of the Father. Remember the humble surrender. Remember the simplicity and stillness of the first Christmas. Remember how in that moment, God's love is especially palpable in the baby born to suffer to save, so much so that angels were heard singing. 🎶🎵
Oh Christmas!! You never leave us. You are at every Mass. Let us remember. ❤
Yes, Christmas template is going to change... and it is a good thing. Feel it.
Merry Christmas to all!!!
