The New
Happy Monday!
I am biased for experiences, for touch, for connection.
There are things about the virtual world that does not resonate with me:
1. I cannot learn virtually. I like to listen, do, see - and then I learn.
2. I could not consider Virtual Realities to be tours.
3. I am not satisfied with online e-meet ups. I lose focus and could not connect.
4. I want to feel interaction and sense how the person in front of me changes facial expression, color, temperature and energy when I connect with them.
5. I am not comfortable ordering food online. This has always been delegated to my sister ever since.
I am doomed in the new normal.
Guess what? Like many others like me, I haveno choice to MAKE A CHOICE.
I have to adopt to low touch point lifestyle and make do with it. I keep in mind that the fundamentals remain the same. A mental shift is in order.
1. I not only learn virtually, I also have to teach in the virtual space.
2. Experiences in tours cannot be replaced by being there, but insights and reactions can be elicited.
3. I recently partnered with friends in the travel industry to form a community for Travel Practitioner to connect, learn and update each other on survival strategies in challenging times. I am meeting people and my social media has never been this busy. What I do not have in terms of connection, I have in terms of purpose.
4. The thing about feeling people's energy, I won't pretend I am able to replace. However, it forces me to ask more straightforward questions and I think it allows the other person to verbalize as well. No assumptions, just real talk.
5. I am contemplating on ordering from McDonald's this afternoon.
You see, I am way past laboring about what this new normal is about. I already know it is here. What I see, what I can accept, will be my new reality. Admittedly, I still do not know exactly what to do with the new normal. What I am learning to do now though is to welcome it.
In the end, this new normal is not the biggest news there will be. At least in my realm, the biggest news will be THE NEW ME.
Who are you turning out to be?
