Everything You Want Is On the Other Side of Fear
Happy Monday!
Fear is crippling and it stands in the way of a peaceful mind.
Things we fear:
π The future
π Failure
π Hurt
π Shame
π Weaknesses
π Illness and death
π The future
π Failure
π Hurt
π Shame
π Weaknesses
π Illness and death
Anything common to all?
Yes. They are inevitable.
We do not become happy preparing for a perfect, unscathed life. We become happy preparing ourselves to face the unknown, the matter of fact, the things that will not go as planned (because we always plan for perfect).
How can we face the inevitable with courage?
1. Admit that you can prepare but cannot control outcomes.
The sense of control makes us feel we are entitled to a result when we try to achieve them. News Flash ⚡: we are not.
The best mental balm though is that we TRY.
2. Be courageous in little things to prepare you to take courage in bigger circumstances.
Say the truth. Turn down anything that does not reflect your values. Try that diet again π£. Take on a task you don't know then figure your way through once you are there. Little victories that strengthens the fiber of courage in us.
3. Acknowledge moments of self-doubt and "nervous" episodes to be signals, not terminal points.
These moments are in the cusps, crossroads and edges of courage. Look beyond it and you will achieve the fruits of courage. Go through it and fear will not take over you again for a similar situation.
4. I just have to add, that last item: illness and death- these are the ones we cross but never become immune /stronger by doing so. The healthy human psyche submits to the mourning process, change , and then lets go. If it happens again, we will not be prepared again. We go through it once more looking forward to a healthy letting go at the end of the process.
Courage is not gonna come when we keep hiding in fear. Courage is when our minds identify our fear and say... we'd be better through this, than around.
To a courageous week ahead chums! π¦
