Give It Another Shot
Happy Monday!
As you may have noticed, my past few weeks entries for my Monday posts have been, for lack of better term - "unprepared".
I started July not feeling well and with no urgent commitment for that week, I allowed myself to coast through the week spending most of my time just staying in bed except for a couple of appointments here and there.
The following week, I was not prepped for my Monday post again as ... well, I just started to feel better.
You see where this is going?
I am writing this so I could get myself back on track.
Although taking a pause once in a while is important, going back on track immediately, entertaining no excuses is also crucial.
A few things I need to remind myself facing the week ahead:
1. Momentum is always important so, if need be, slow down. Don't stop. Even if I feel like I have already messed up my momentum, I have to objectively look at how it really was. Looking back, i had some fruitful meetings, a book i longed to read that I finally started, and sent out some long overdue emails. Realizing not all was put to halt is important because I might be unnecessarily hard on myself again, jeopardizing past efforts.
2. Be mindful of your thought process. Feeling in the rut? A bad news, a relationship turned sour, someone in the family got sick, name it. They all trigger in our brain a thought cycle that almost always involved anticipating things going bad. Stop. Take it in, distance yourself from what is and create the plan for what will be. A plan always make things work. List, calendar, journal, appointments - they always draw you out of bed and keep things going.
3. Start. Do one task reluctantly after another. Reluctance does not matter. Recognize it will be there. Realize that you are making progress and that it will get easier. Appreciate that you are starting, that you've started, that starting is better than not starting at all!
Mondays are great, right? Its a weekly cue that there' so much ahead of us and that we can give it another shot!
Enjoy the week!
