Comparing Yourself With Others
Happy Monday!
Are you done comparing yourself with others yet?
Sometimes I ask myself this question as I sulk in inferiority from the achievement of other super mortals whose lives so happen to be (i wonder too where they find the time) well documented and is (to my sometimes inferior self) too glaringly visible to me.
If you are anything like me on a moody day, READ: It matters what you tell yourself when your mood puts to fore your insecurities.
1. You may feel inferior and insecure, but it does not mean you are indeed such.
It could be chemical, could be too much of a delish food, it could be a careless comment or memory of a past failure. Whatever it is, triggers to our feelings are just that- triggers. It picks on our feelings and that is it. It does not change our reality.
Having a journal that reminds you of things youve accomplished and things/people you are blessed with helps. Otherwise, just pause and recognize it is just a feeling, and fleeting at that.
2. You should get off the window and start focusing on the inside of the house.
I often say this but nonetheless forget it as often. We are to compare ourselves not with others but to who we were yesterday. Find solace in looking at how much you've conquered in the past month, year, 3 years and celebrate them. Not only because they are wonderful but because it was not easy. We backslide, we forget, our energy is challenged. Yet we find reasons to start over and over. We remember our WHY and we are invigorated by purpose once more.
3. Find a new challenge to conquer and win that.
Speaking of starting over...sometimes inferiority sets in when we rest on our laurels because our minds are no longer attuned to growth. Find a new project and practice focus on that. Revisit old ones and see if you are still on track.
Too heavy?
Find one necessary chore you've been putting off and do that. Feel how your brain's chemical change.
Our brains are wired to help us survive living up to who we should be, not who everyone else is. Don't embattle it with your unnecessary longings to be like someone else.
Yeah, that's me talking to myself. If it sounded like I was talking to you... lets both find that chore to get started, right now.
Win the week folks!
