Protect Your Peace

Image
Happy Monday! Who or what is stealing your peace? Is it a colleague who seems to be taking credit for your hard work? Would it be that person who always finds malice in all that you do? Are you unsettled by the government, by scandals within your church, or relationship squabbles within the family? Do you lose sleep because of financial concerns? Although all of these things can trouble you, they will not steal your peace unless you let them. They may be real concerns but they do not have the power to unsettle you until you allow worry, fear, doubt or powerlessness overcome you. Your peace is your responsibility. You cannot blame others when you lose it. Where is the lack of peace coming from? From our need to control things and people?   From finding a need to own, get, keep?   From giving more than needed credit to what others think of you?   From following people and not processes?   From doubting that God will tide you through because you a

Comparing Yourself With Others

Happy Monday! Are you done comparing yourself with others yet? Sometimes I ask myself this question as I sulk in inferiority from the achievement of other super mortals whose lives so happen to be (i wonder too where they find the time) well documented and is (to my sometimes inferior self) too glaringly visible to me. If you are anything like me on a moody day, READ: It matters what you tell yourself when your mood puts to fore your insecurities. 1. You may feel inferior and insecure, but it does not mean you are indeed such. It could be chemical, could be too much of a delish food, it could be a careless comment or memory of a past failure. Whatever it is, triggers to our feelings are just that- triggers. It picks on our feelings and that is it. It does not change our reality. Having a journal that reminds you of things youve accomplished and things/people you are blessed with helps. Otherwise, just pause and recognize it is just a feeling, and fleeting at t

Give It Another Shot

Happy Monday! As you may have noticed, my past few weeks entries for my Monday posts have been, for lack of better term - "unprepared". I started July not feeling well and with no urgent commitment for that week, I allowed myself to coast through the week spending most of my time just staying in bed except for a couple of appointments here and there. The following week, I was not prepped for my Monday post again as ... well, I just started to feel better. You see where this is going? I am writing this so I could get myself back on track. Although taking a pause once in a while is important, going back on track immediately, entertaining no excuses is also crucial. A few things I need to remind myself facing the week ahead: 1. Momentum is always important so, if need be, slow down . Don't stop. Even if I feel like I have already messed up my momentum, I have to objectively look at how it really was. Looking back, i had some fruitful meeti

Hellen Keller

Happy Monday! I saw this video for the first time in 2017 and much like her condition, the title did not give justice to who she is and what she has learned because of her disabilities. Helen Keller has written 12 books, received various medals from head of states for her contribution in exposing and fighting for human rights (especially for the plight of the poor, women and disabled), and was a renowned speaker. Her tireless efforts to contribute to society made her influe ntial throughout her life and till now. Yes, she may be too much of a socialist for my taste but her mere effort to stand for what she believed was right is in itself admirable. What amazed me most then and now was her cheerfulness as shown on the video. "True happiness is not achieved through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose." -Helen Keller

Happy Monday! Embracing the need to do nothing today to feel better.  Doing nothing may just be the most productive thing to do sometimes.
